Overview
With the support of the Scanlon Foundation, Victoria University, in partnership with the City of Wyndham, developed a community empowerment program to improve local support services for those who have experienced racism.
After extensive community consultation, an anti-racism roadmap was developed through the project, culminating in the establishment of a local anti-racism support network.
Using the findings from the pilot undertaken in Wyndham, a practical guide for supporting community-led anti-racism strategies was developed, which was trialled in three further Victorian local council areas.
Each project has helped empower individuals to speak out and report racism in their local area, while connecting local government, service providers and community members in a joint effort to tackle racism at the grassroots level.
